Karin Hastings, MS


Karin Hastings is the Algae Production Manager at Integrated Organic Energy. She has over 5 years of production and R&D experience in the phycology field. Her past experience in the algae world has included: generating algae for feedstock for a large oyster hatchery, producing axenic algae for human consumption, and producing genetically modified algae for the extraction of refinery-ready crude oil. At IOE, Karin is integrating elements of these production schemes to build a unique system that employs the principles of organic farming to generate algae at a low cost.

Karin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Puget Sound and a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Montana.
